1. KayAli Wedding Collection

A Review of 2023’s Best and Worst Perfumes

Using the KayAli Wedding Collection (velvet and silk) was nothing short of a sensory journey for me. The hype surrounding these fragrances was real, and after trying them, I understood why. While both were captivating, Silk Santal stood out as my clear favorite. Honestly, it is like having all the delightful things in a bottle – just the right sweetness, a touch of luxury, feminine vibes that are totally elegant, and an essence that feels royal. Imagine a fragrance that’s perfect for a grand occasion like a wedding but also suits your everyday moments flawlessly. The downside? It is completely sold out at the moment, and I am here, patiently waiting for it to be back in stock. Keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy restock because, believe me, this fragrance is the real deal.

Velvet Santal, the more masculine counterpart, resonated with me as well. A luxurious blend reminiscent of warm velvet, it is the perfect fragrance for fall and winter. While it may lack the instant connection I felt with Silk Santal, its Sandalwood scent makes it a must-have for any fragrance enthusiast.

2. Juliette Lust

A Review of 2023’s Best and Worst Perfumes

Let me introduce you to the absolute showstopper – Juliette (Lust for Sun). Believe me, this fragrance has skyrocketed to the top of my favorites from the Juliette Has A Gun lineup. What makes it a standout? Well, it is not your usual tropical scent; Lust For Sun is a flawless fusion of coconut, vanilla, and floral notes that takes you to the dreamiest beach day. Picture this – a tropical summer stocked in a bottle, offering a one-of-a-kind and peaceful getaway, even on those gloomy days. Trust me on this; it is not just a fragrance; it is a transformative experience.

3. Black Opium

A Review of 2023’s Best and Worst Perfumes

If you are still undecided about Black Opium, let me tell you that the parfum version is a complete game changer – and I speak from experience. It is like a vanilla explosion that is far ahead of the average fragrance journey. The warmth and sensuality it offers to the table make it a must-have, especially on cold winter days. I promise you, this parfum version is far superior than the standard eau de parfum.

As winter approaches, I am excited to wrap myself up in the snug, seductive charm of Black Opium. This scent is more than a choice; it’s a statement, a mood, and a touch of luxury all in one bottle. You won’t just wear a scent; you will own the space with it. Capture the winter moods with boldness and charm!

4. Gucci Flora

A Review of 2023’s Best and Worst Perfumes

Now, let me rave about Gucci Flora – it is a game changer, especially the Magnolia version. I mean, no offense to the original Gorgeous Gardenia, but the Magnolia? It has my heart. Imagine Magnolia Essence, Dewberry’s Accord, with a bit of Patchouli – it is the ideal combination of sweet and mature feelings. It is absolutely my daily, can’t-live-without go-to. It gives a sophisticated touch to my aura, making me feel as if I have entered a realm of elegance every time I wear it. From office meetings to dinner parties, this one is perfect for all.

5. Armani Beauty Parfum

Giorgio Armani has always held a special place in my heart, and the evolution of the My Way collection has been a fragrant journey. Now, with the introduction of My Way Parfum, I find myself charmed by its packaging, making it my favorite among the series.

It has now taken a subtle shift in the wood-based note, going back to Cedar, adds a delightful twist to the fragrance. Unlike the previous ones, the cedar wood note in the La Parfum version gives a sweet woodiness, creating a feminine, and attractive allure. This scent not only captivates but is also slightly addicting, making it the perfect choice for a romantic evening. I personally love to use this in the evening.

6. TOM FORD

A Review of 2023’s Best and Worst Perfumes

TOM FORD’s Café Rose, despite being a re-promotion from the Private Blend collection to the Signature Collection, remains an exceptional fragrance that tops this category. For me, the repackaging won because it brings this enchanting scent to more people at a lower price. As far as I can say, the fragrance remains unchanged, retaining its eau de parfum strength. Café Rose is a mix of spiciness and the edgy appeal of Femme Fatale-type rose. It will very well suit candlelight dinners, high heels, and red lips—a romantic and seductive aroma that deserves the attention.

7. CLEAN RESERVE

Among the range of fragrances, Clean Reserve’s Sugar quietly shines as a hidden gem. Initially overlooked, it managed to get my attention with its light and simple gourmet essence. The fragrance is basic yet incredible, turning into an addictive aroma. While not an instant favorite of mine, Sparkling Sugar emerged as an unexpected delight, especially for daily and casual use.

8. Jo Malone London

When it comes to timeless classics, Jo Malone London’s English stands out as a royal fragrance. It captures the essence of a princess bride—a fragrance perfect for a fairytale wedding. I personally love how this blend of English pear and sweet pea creates a clean, airy, and slightly sweet aroma. Every whiff feels like a ray of sunshine in a bottle.

9. Ellis Brooklyn

Then comes the two new scents from Ellis Brooklyn—Apple Love and Florist. Florist is a nice, flowery fragrance with a pretty pink bottle that gives off Barbie doll vibes. It is good, but not exactly a standout in the sea of floral scents you might already have.

Now, Apple Love surprised me. Usually, I do not go crazy over Ellis Brooklyn scents, finding them pleasant but not mind-blowing. But Apple Love is different. It has become a favorite of mine. The mix of apple, peach, and a juicy burst of fruitiness is just delicious. Sure, Ellis Brooklyn scents do not last super long, but the smell is so good that I do not mind.

Disappointments

Now, let’s talk about a few fragrances that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. They’re not bad, just not my cup of tea.

TOM FORD
Electric Cherry Eau de Parfum Fragrance
This one did not work for me. It is a bit tangy and citrusy with ginger, and it did not make it to my favorites list. Even though I love TOM FORD’s fragrances, Electric Cherry just did not click for me.

Roja Parfums
ELIXIR PARFUM COFFRET
This one is strong, with aldehydes that hit the nose a bit too hard. It has a floral and powdery vibe, somewhat like Chanel No. 5, but more mature. I had hopes for the dry down, but it did not win me over

SKYLAR
Lime Sands Eau de Parfum
Now, this summer launch had potential with sea salt, lime, and coconut notes. Unfortunately, it smells more like harsh lime and dish soap. Most Skylar fragrances are light and easygoing, but Lime Sands is a bit too much for my liking.
Thanks for joining me on this fragrant journey through 2023’s perfume scene! I hope you have found your next signature scent or maybe even learned a thing or two about what to avoid. Your scent journey is personal, so embrace what speaks to you. Whether you are after the best or trying to avoid the worst, remember: the perfect fragrance is the one that makes you feel amazing.
